The Sapphire Project Dinner 2024 0062.jpg

Sapphire Dinner 2024, in collaboration with the Art Gallery of New South Wales

In a unique collaboration with the Art Gallery of New South Wales, we were thrilled to hold the first-ever ‘dinner activation’ in the Tank, a repurposed Second World War fuel bunker.

Thanks to your support and with immense gratitude, we have raised over $1.6 million from the Sapphire Dinner 2024. Sincere appreciation goes to our partners who covered the event’s costs, which ensured 100% of all ticket sales and funds raised on the night are directly contributed to our ocean partners.

Less than 2% of all philanthropic giving is directed toward the environment, and even less for ocean conservation. We have challenged that 2%, and over the past 3 years we have raised over $4 million for the cause, going directly into safeguarding our precious marine ecosystems and the many lives that depend on it.

Significant funds will go towards supporting the Great Barrier Reef Foundation for Reef rescue and restoration; with additional grants to the University of Sydney’s One Tree Island & the Australian Museum’s Lizard Island Research Stations, Australian Sea Lion Recovery Foundation and Biopixels Ocean Foundation’s Project Hammerhead. We look forward to sharing with you our Impact Report 2024 in March 2025.

4 APRIL 2024
WEBINAR VIA ZOOM

Webinar: Coral Bleaching & Restoration Breakthroughs

As a valued supporter of the Sapphire Project, with shared passions for coral reefs, we invite you to join us for a webinar to learn about the current state of coral bleaching on the Great Barrier Reef and the solutions available.

"It's looking like the entirety of the Southern Hemisphere is probably going to bleach this year... We are literally sitting on the cusp of the worst bleaching event in the history of the planet.” - NOAA ecologist, Derek Manzello

What does this mean for corals, and what steps are scientists at the Academy taking to mitigate bleaching damage?

Dr Luiz Rocha, the California Academy's Curator and Follett Chair of Ichthyology, is traveling into the field for a first-ever dive in the Great Barrier Reef’s mesophotic zone. He will see first-hand the damaged reefs, those displaying resilience, and collect specimens so that we may better understand natural resilience.

Join us for a special conversation with Dr Luiz Rocha and Dr Cédric Robillot, Executive Director for the Reef Restoration and Adaptation Program, who will discuss their efforts in monitoring and responding to coral bleaching in the Great Barrier Reef.

For the second year in a row, Moet & Chandon will present a magical display of 'Effervescence' and unmissable parties around the world - sharing the joy of togetherness in more than 20 cities - and Sydney will once again lead the global celebration.

Building on last year's iconic Sydney event and aimed at making this next festive holiday truly 'extraordinaire', the December series of Effervescence events will delight guests and Friends of the House with a grand activation at Mrs. Macquarie's Chair. Launching on 1st December, Moet & Chandon will share its legendary savoir-fete with Sydney to celebrate the season with a custom-built immersive destination open to Moet & Chandon adorers for three days only.

A TOAST TO THE FUTURE

A distinctive moment in each of Moet & Chandon's celebration events is the toasting to a worthy cause, and this year is no exception.

Perpetuating a tradition that is core to the greatness and generosity of the House, Moet & Chandon invites all those attending its Effervescence events around the world to raise a champagne glass and join in its charitable initiative of "Toast for a Cause."
